Email me at LittleSnowFox@gmail.com to make suggestions.	You've noticed it too, haven't you? Those anime characters- usually from different series- that seem to be eerily similar? I call them look-alikes, and they're a WHOLE lot more common than you might think. For instance, almost the entire Akatsuki from the popular series "Naruto" have their basis in characters from the samurai series "Rurouni Kenshin." The main offenders seem to be Shonen Jump artists- maybe they exchange ideas over coffee or something. ^^;
Naruto - Akasuna no Sasori	Rurouni Kenshin - Gein	* both are deranged wannabe artists * both fight inside of a doll made of corpses, concealing their true form until shortly before their death * both make fighting dolls out of dead people * both are incredibly insane * both turn out to be old guys * both control their dolls using puppet strings attached to their fingers * both get taken out by secondary characters who barely survive fighting them * both use poison * both are vain about their skill * both die from their own creations * both serve evil organizations which want to rule the world * both think that their repulsive creations are beautiful * both have years of experience in combat, but lose to young people * both have great physical strength. Gein's is from training. Sasori made himself into a fighting doll. * They're both serial-killing puppeteers. Come on- how many of those do you see?
Naruto - Hoshigaki Kisame	Rurouni Kenshin - Sagara Sasosuke	* both have giant swords, which are wrapped in cloth that looks like toilet paper * both are tough, with a high pain threshold * both possess abnormally high physical strength * they have similar hairdos and both wear headbands * they both lack personality ^^; * both are supporting characters for smaller, girly-looking men whom they (for some reason) seem to take orders from * both are taller and more muscular than their bishounen associates * both look as if they could beat any bishounen out of their series, but in anime, the girly-looking guys are always the strong ones * both are overshadowed by their bishounen associates * both have a zero-strategy, fight-till-dropping fighting style
Naruto - Uchiha Itachi	Rurouni Kenshin - Udou Jin'eh	* both are psycho and enjoy killing other humans * both wear conical hats which serve absolutely no purpose * both use a katana as a weapon (yes, Itachi uses one. Anbu flashbacks!) * both use their eyes to cast a spell on opponents * both use fear as a weapon * both attacked huge numbers of warriors at once and emerged unscathed * both are able to create illusions with their eyes * both have ugly lines on their faces (sorry, fangirls) * both seem to be "stalkers" (referring to their killing style) * both play mind games with opponents, preying on their psychological weaknesses * both REALLY need to be on medication, but for some reason they are not * both are really quite ugly, but seem to think that they're good-looking
Naruto - Deidara	Rurouni Kenshin - Katsu	* both are artists * both use explosives as a weapon * both want revenge for something that happened years ago * "Katsu" is Deidara's trigger-phrase which sets off his bombs * both (initially, at least) wore traditional Asian clothing and a headband * both are bishounen (or, at least, wannabe bishounen. Deidara's hands are freaky.) * both seem to have a habit of posing for no apparent reason * they both seem to take pleasure in explosions >_<
Naruto - Orochimaru	Rurouni Kenshin - Otowa Hyoko	*Both are freaky, flamboyant, gay-looking Michael Jackson wannabes * both are villains (Well, with the description above, they'd almost have to be...) * both are involved with their series' version of the Akatsuki * similar outfits (Orochimaru in a flashback) * same personality (their goal in life is to spread homophobia, apparently...) * similar hair * I've wasted too much time on this... I don't like Orochimaru... >_<;; The other guy is okay.
Naruto - Sai	Rurouni Kenshin - Soujirou	* both have no emotions due to their upbringing * their heads are almost identical * both have an often-used "fake smile" * both are skilled fighters, despite their young age * both are the brain-washed fighting servants of weird old men * both have some sense knocked into them by the series' protagonists * Seriously. Just read the manga where these guys appear. They're like long-lost twins.
Naruto - Naruto	Rurouni Kenshin - Yahiko	* both become good fighters through effort, determination and obsessive-compulsive disorder * both are painfully hyperactive * Similar personailites overall * both wear ugly outfits >_<;; * both tend to win in impossible situations * neither is very smart or good at strategy * similar character design
Naruto - Uchiha Sasuke	Rurouni Kenshin - Shinomori Aoshi	* both are unemotional * both are rival of the main character * both are shinobi * both have a vendetta * both are fast and graceful in battle * both have a group of underlings to serve them * both have a kunochi fangirl who harrasses them with unreciprocated and enthusiastic love * both coldly ignore the woman who loves them, although protecting her from afar * both have the personality of a horse's behind * both are drama queens who pose for no reason * the only difference is that Aoshi is actually cool, with a code of honor and some kindness. Sasuke is just a horse's behind.
Naruto - Haruno Sakura	Rurouni Kenshin - Misao Makimachi	* both are pretty young at their first appearance in the series * both are kunoichi * both are squeeling fangirls of a cold, laconic, somewhat-emo fellow shinobi * the objects of their desire ignore them (although occasionally protecting them) * both have energetic and honest personalities * both wear far brighter and more elaborate clothing than one would expect from kunoichi * both are wholeheartedly committed to serving/protecting their beloveds, which is not appreciated * both mature as the series goes on * both start out annoying and end up cool (my opinion) * totally random, but they have my and SuperWombat's respective hairstyles and color schemes (purple /w/ LOOOONG braid = me, pink/red with short hair = Wombat) This is hopefully a coincidence and not the sign of ninja stalking us to report character designs to a manga-ka warlord.
Inuyasha - Inuyasha	Yuu Yuu Hakusho - Youko Kurama	* both are hybrids of humans and canine youkai * both have well-loved human mothers * both have primarily human friends * both are very protective of their loved ones * both (in youkai forms) wear simple, Asian-inspired clothing * both have a flexible moral code... * both have a human love interest (Kurama x Kitajima Maya- it's canon, friends) * both of their loves are human schoolgirls of high intellect and supernatural abilities * both can transform into full-youkai forms that are far more powerful but more ruthless than their normal, hanyou selves * both, curiously, get along well with mortal calico cats (Buyo and Eikichi) * both protect the other main characters and usually end up horrifically wounded because of this... * both have fuzzy, wuzzy puppy ears (when Kurama is Youko, anyway) * long, silver hair in IDENTICAL hairstyles and gold, canid-style eyes... Copyright infringement, anyone? * Yoshihiro Togashi began as Takahashi Rumiko's assistant. I wonder who stole from whom?
Rurouni Kenshin - Sagara Sanosuke	Yuu Yuu Hakusho - Hiei	* they are both the "nasty tough-guys" of their groups * they both fought and lost to the protagonist and view him both as a friend and a rival * almost identical hairstyles, right down to the light streaks above the bangs * both don't seem to mind being a bit bad * both are swordsmen * both are very strong physically and can fight after taking a huge beating * both have honor codes and a sense of pride * both wear clothing with a black-and-white color scheme * both tend to be chest-exposing fanservice toys for the fangirls * both are friends with an annoying but likable redhaired bishounen * both lost to the redhaired bishounen (see manga-only story where Kurama and Hiei met) * both carry grudges over unjust things that happened to them in the past * both lost parents/parent figures in their childhood and were very hurt by it * both got tossed off of cliffs as children * both were in rather disreputable lines of work before joining the main cast of characters * both have had lapses back into bad habits (involving bombs, rebellion, self-destructive behavior, etc.) * both have beloved younger sisters
Hunter X Hunter - Kurapika	Harukanaru Toki no Naka de	* they look just alike and dress in the same color scheme. I don't think that anything else is neccessary.
